Things have been somewhat quiet around the Hughes house- by that I mean- we haven't been going, going, going, like usual- but rather we've been spending a lot of time at home, trying to enjoy our last few days with daddy before he starts work.
We've been working hard to get all of our boxes unpacked. It's crazy how long it takes to get everything done. And we thought we barely had anything in Lincoln! The house is slowly getting organized though. It's a challenge to get much done when you've got the cutest little baby just chatting away at his toys on the floor beside you though! He's been so good!
Here's a few pictures from our last few days together:
Here's what I found when I came around the corner as Jon was getting Nolan ready for a walk:
We took advantage of having some down time and met Jon's parents for lunch a couple days this week so they could see Nolan and introduce him to their co-workers. Here Nolan is getting ready to go see Grandpa Hughes. What a big boy!
Friday night we went to Jazz Squared on our town square. It's such a fun night to just be outside with the music and people. Jon's parents invited us to join them for dinner with several of their friends at a neat restaurant on the square where we could eat outside and enjoy the music. It was lovely. Nolan got all gussied up for the night out:
I LOVE this outfit on him!! He looks so good in blue!
My chubby monster
He LOVES his play mat now. He's trying soooo hard to reach up and grab those toys!
And he LOVES his hands now too! Not sure if he wants to smile here:
Jon enjoying some time with Nolan before the craziness begins:
We went to church this weekend and it was great to be back and see our friends! Jon is so good about setting good habits, so we took Nolan to nursery for the first time. We prayed over him before hand but I think I was the one who needed it most! I was pretty nervous for him but he was happy as a lark to be getting all that attention and to watch all the activity. We went to get him after service and found him full of smiles, swinging away with a nursery worker. What a blessing and answer to prayers!
We spent Labor Day sleeping in and then went to Jon's parents for a while to visit with more of their friends by the pool. Then we went to a BBQ with friends from small group. It was great fellowship!
Jon started work yesterday and had a wonderful day! He said that he felt like he understood why God had chosen this firm for him and he said he thinks he is really going to love the work. It sounds like he's going to be doing a big variety of projects and will even get to do some litigation too. The firm has been great to us so far and we are so thankful for this job!
Finally, Nolan came down with his first cold Monday evening. He's got a runny, snotty nose, puffy eyes, a sad cough, and a low grade fever. It's so hard to see him not feeling well but he still gives us smiles when we change his diaper, so I know he's not doing too bad! We've attempted to keep him comfortable and tried all the home remedies we know. We've been praying for him a lot and ask that you would too.
That's all the news for now. More to come soon! Love- J,H,N, and M
