Trying to catch up

Hello everyone. Again, sorry for taking such a long time to post pictures that are from 2 weeks ago! We finally got the internet hooked up here last Friday, however, for some reason it takes forever to download pics for the blog.

Things are going pretty well here. We are beginning to feel like the apartment is our home and we are finding our way around Lincoln pretty well. It does help that it takes like 30 min max to get anywhere you need to go! I am still really enjoying work and Jon is still enjoying his break. He's been really busy finishing up the law review but should be done soon. Well, that's a bit of an update. I promise to post some apartment pics soon- it's just that we haven't had $$ or time to really hang anything on the wall or accent the place at all and most of you know that I'm not really content with that! :) However, we will take some pics and post them soon!

Now on to the pictures:

This was a quick snapshot before we left the house. It was kinda sad and weird but exciting b/c of what was to come.
We drove to Iowa that day and then stopped to see Shane and Katie and Emma. We are always so thankful for their hospitality. We had so much fun visiting with them and playing with the beautiful Miss Emma:

We left early the next morning and finished up the drive. Miloh found himself a spot real quick where he could watch us move things in. He climbs up there everyday and watches the world go by.
The next day we headed to Ogallala, where my family lives, to visit after being gone for over a year and to partake in the county fair. We had so much fun but the time went way too fast!
Jon and Iz taking in the fair rides

We then headed back to Lincoln to prepare for my first day of work. I really should have given myself another week, but oh well! My first day of work:
And..... last but not least.... a little fun for everyone. While at the fair, Jon and I decided to enter one of the competitions just for fun and we came out as winners. There was a money prize involved and this awesome trophy. Now the fun part.......... any guesses what type of competition we won!?!?! Check out the trophy, post your guesses, and then we'll post the answer with pics soon.

Love you all- J&H

A Bit Behind

Hey Guys. Sorry for the delay in our posts. Things have been crazy busy as usual and we still don't have the internet at the apartment yet. That should be fixed by the end of the week. We are in Lincoln and doing great. I (Heather) just finished my second day of work. I really like it.... even more that I had thought I would. I am learning so much and love the patients. I think it's going to be a great experience! Jon has been unpacking and finishing up with his edits. He will not start until the 31st. He's learning what it's like to be the one at home alone all day and I'm learning what it's like to go like crazy all day. We both said tonight that we never want to switch roles like this full time. :) See..... already learning so much!

The apartment is great and we are pretty much completely moved in. I promise I will post pictures soon. I just haven't had a chance to get good pictures yet. The golf course that we are on is really nice and we are looking forward to tee times in the near future. We are hoping to have a chance to take in a bit more of the city this weekend and then we will begin the church hunt on Sunday.

So..... as stated before, I am a bit behind in posts so here are pictures from our last few days in Indy. There are a lot of pictures that look similar but with different friends inserted. Sorry for the repetitiveness but now a bunch of you will get to see yourselves on the blog. :) My apologies to anyone we missed that night.... it was a bit crazy... and... my apologies for any misspellings on names.

Ryan (Jon's brother) was in town over the weekend so we got to spend a little bit of time with him which we were very thankful. We got to catch up with him and see pictures from his recent dig. We are so proud of him!
Monday night we had an ice cream social at our house to say a final goodbye to everyone. We were so thankful to all our friends and fam that showed up. It was a fun night!

Steve, Melissa, and Isabella Davis- friends from law school
Ron, Sharon, Maddy, Grant, and Samson Stohler- dear friends from our church
Mike and Kate Runge- friends from law school and Jon's partner in crime from the law review
Stuart and Sarah- friends of ours from church (good luck at school this year guys!)
Chris and Eva Taylor- our family from small group
Leslie Russell- our family from small group
Sam, Alyssa, Jacob and Noah Milligan- dear friends from church and our recent accountability at church (if we miss, these boys are on us! :))
Jamie, Joey, Addison, and Arin Alvis- friends from school (I commuted with Joey)
Jon and Lindsey Bont- friends from school
Matt Ehinger and Eric and Sara Long- friends from law school
Eric, Nikki, Aiden, and baby Powers- family from small group
Cary, Kristi, and baby Smith- family from small group
Shawn, Jessica, and baby Miller- family from small group
Chris, Michelle, Maddy, Emma, and Kaitlin Dell- our realtors and friends

Tuesday was family day. We spent the day with Mom Hughes hanging out and doing fun things. Dad Hughes ended up having to work so we missed out on spending time with him. :(

We took in the state fair:
Our favorite fair food- BBQ pork and corn on the cob!
Jon- he does this to me all the time. He dances around like a weirdo to make me laugh but also makes everyone around him stare while trying not to laugh. Oooo I love him.
Dale and I got a pedicure- some odd 4 toed thing also thought he should be in the picture
To end the day, we drove the southern part of the city to meet Grandma and Grandpa Hughes and Fred and Sis for dinner. We had a good visit and we were so thankful to be able to say goodbye to them.
And that's all for now. I have a bunch more to post. If only this coffee shop's connection was a bit faster..... miss you all and we'll post again soon! J&H

V~A~C~A~T~I~O~N~

Before leaving for our much needed vacation, we had some fun and fellowship from Chris and Eva from our small group. They treated us to a great meal at Carrabbas (spelling?) and then we had a fun night of Euchre (an Indiana card game). It was a really fun night!

That Sunday morning we began the 16 hour drive south to Florida. We went with Erich and Moe and Andy and Megan- our friends from Wyoming and from now. :)  Erich and Moe picked us up early and we started the journey (hence the tired faces below)
We stopped in Louisville and picked up Andy, Megan, and Hadley. They moved to Louisville a month ago and are getting settled quickly. Here is a picture of their apartment. They have a really nice place.
Sunday we drove to Macon, GA and stopped over for the night. It was a good break for us and we had fun the whole way there!

The hills of Tennessee
Hadley, along for the ride. She was amazing!! She was such a good baby the whole way there and back. She just munched on her graham crackers, talked to herself, made eyes at us, and slept here and there. We miss her so much already!
My sister helped us get really cheap rooms in Macon (thanks Whit!). We ordered pizza and played games and laughed like we'd never been apart!

Monday we left to complete the final 6 hours to Orlando. When you cross the line into Florida they have a fun rest area where they serve fresh squeezed orange juice- so of course we had to stop:

This was a van we drove next to- creative eh? Ha!
A goldfish swimming into Hadley's sleepy mouth
We stayed at a time share in Orlando- here is a view of a rainbow from our condo
Jon- finally relaxing
Erich and Moe fixed our first meal- let's just say we ate extremely well the whole week!
Our first dip in the pool!!

Putt Putt
The boys making friends in the pool
Jon captured this one- we were all really focused on Mario Kart

We also had the opportunity to go and visit some of our friends who moved to Orlando a few weeks ago. Ashley and Derek and their housemates had us over for dinner and games. It was a great time of fellowship. We miss you guys!

The following day we went to Cocoa Beach which was one of my favorite days! I love the beach! Our first site of the ocean:
Some boogie boarding action

Oooo- my baywatch babe
The boys waiting to catch a wave- it turned out to be a pretty choppy day so we had some really great waves. We saw a ton of sting rays coming out of the waves and Moe even saw something with a fin swimming near by us. I'm glad I didn't know this until after we had left!!!!!

The crew:
We also went to Downtown Disney- the three princesses of the group
Jon and Hadley dancing

Then we went to Universal City Walk

More dancing!
Thursday we went to Wet N Wild- I don't have a lot of pictures from this day but we had a great time!

We played a ton of games during the week. It was such a blast! Here are a few of the crazy things that went on- interpret as you'd like:

Friday Jon and I had to attend the 90 minute time share presentation. It was no fun but we stuck to our guns and didn't buy! We spent the rest of our day enjoying the resort before we had to leave.

No- I did not paste Jon's head into this picture- it must have been the water that distorted it but it's pretty funny:

Friday night we went to Bahama Breeze which was a delicious and a perfect way to end our trip

A picture of downtown Atlanta from our drive home
Sleepy kids

The end. What a blessing this trip was for all of us! We hope you enjoyed the pictures. Love, J&H

P.S. We leave Indiana on Wednesday so we'll have an update on our new place in Nebraska soon!! We would appreciate your prayers for our travel!
