A Fall Visit

We had a great week at the Hughes house this past week, as my mom and Izabel were able to come out for a visit! It was so great to have them here to break up the grind of our week, go shopping with, laugh with, and have fun.... and we did! Before I get to our week, here are a few pictures from a few weekends ago of Mr. Nolan:

A sleepy Saturday with Dad
Hanging out watching Elmo- I do not put Nolan in front of the t.v. very often, but if he's having a fussy day and I just need a break, it works perfectly! It amazes me that he can attend to the movie for as long as he does- and I don't feel too bad since it is educational. So sweet-

My mom and Izabel came in Wednesday afternoon and Jon left work a bit early to pick them up and bring them home. It was sooooo good to get our arms around them and they were so excited to see Nolan. Izabel is such a great big sis and Nolan LOVES LOVES LOVES her and could just watch her run around all day. She carries him around and helps with all the chores for him. She's such a big helper! And Grandma was blown away by how big and how sweet of a little character he is growing to be. They are big buds and had a lot of time together. I was really thankful for the breaks I got! Jon's parents are so great about helping me too... it was just great having mom here 24/7. Wednesday evening we visited and ate some yummy broccoli and cheese soup.

Nolan and Iz

Thursday I was able to get to the dentist thanks to their help with Nolan. We then treated our selves to delicious Panda Express and went shopping all afternoon to get a halloween costume for Iz and a few things for Nolan and I. This was my first shopping trip for clothes since his delivery and it went much better than I thought it might! That evening, Grandma Hughes came over for dinner and we captured these photos. Nolan started rice cereal just over a week ago. It's been so fun to see his reactions and he is really loving it now.

Friday morning we lazied around

I again got to take advantage of having my mom here and scheduled a hair appt. We did some more shopping (Nolan's a pro already) and then met Jon at home. He kept Nolan so the girls could go for a pedicure and we ended the night with pizza and a movie!

Saturday was great b/c we were ALL together!
Nolan got his 4 month pictures taken which turned out great! I think he was in model mode the rest of the day- see smiley pics below. We also went to Stoney Creek Farms pumpkin festival which was a ton of fun! It was a beautiful day and Iz and Nolan were so good!

*Ignore my straps hanging out in every pic! Ugh!

And the hay ride...

Too sweet

Probably one of my favorite pictures yet! This so captures our little guy!!
We made Sunday a "get things done day" and we were able to get several things marked off our to do list and clean the house really well. Izabel loves to play with the kids in our neighborhood, so she was thrilled to be home. We ended the weekend with Subway and The Amazing Race! :) Just the way we like it! Having them here was such a blessing and I feel completely refreshed now! We love you guys and miss you already!!

Don't go Grandma!
Happy Halloween!! Love- J,H,N, & M

4 Months!

Nolan is 4 months old today! Such a big guy! He has the war wounds to prove it after his appt today, but he was brave and did great! We've been staying busy, enjoying the warm days left and visiting family and friends. Jon is super busy at work, but happy to have work! I am learning to accept the fact that our house is just going to be different with kids! It's never going to have everything in place- and I'm actually learning to appreciate this "lived in" look! :) I have been attending a Real Mom's group at church on Thursday mornings and enjoy some "me" time. Nolan does great in the nursery and I think he likes some entertainment besides silly mom too! We are also in the process of starting our new small group and are really excited to see where God will take that! Here are some pictures from the past few weeks:

An afternoon playing outside

Nolan showing off how strong his neck is now!
And showing dad.... I'll get it.... I'll get it- you're not getting it to me fast enough!
Last weekend we traveled to southwestern Indiana to visit Jon's grandparents who had yet to meet Nolan. We drove part way Friday night and stayed in a hotel which was a fun getaway. Grandma Hughes came with, so she kept Nolan for a while so Jon and I could escape to the hot tub. It was great! Here's the little guy modeling for us:
LOVE MY HANDS IN MY MOUTH!

Hi guys-
I'm getting tired...
Lovn being naked...
It was so special to get to introduce Nolan to his great grandparents. They loved him!
Great Grandma Shirley

Great Grandpa Jack

Taking a nap- all those smiles are exhausting!

I snapped a few pictures of the view from our front door- the trees are beautiful as are the flowers!

Nolan hanging out during the week with his new best bud- he laughs at Miloh's kisses all the time!

Jon's dad brought me a beautiful bouquet of roses this week to make me feel special. It was so nice!

I love you Nolan William Hughes!
