Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween to everyone!!

Since we have no kids to dress up yet, we dressed up Miloh and ourselves. We all looked ridiculous but we had so much fun laughing at each other! Here's what our Halloween looked like:

Miloh the mail carrier
Jon- Fro Coach
Heather- Fro 60's, 70's, 80's girl
The crazy family

These posted out of order, but here's how we decorated the house

We really wanted to be home our first year in the neighborhood to meet the families around us and try to meet as many people as we could. We had lots of cute kiddos and met some nice families. Hopefully we were able to be a light to people on a dark night by being joyful, positive, and friendly to their children and to them.

We hope everyone had a fun night!! Can't wait to see pics from everyone else.

Love,

A Holiday

Okay, these somehow got all out of order, but here are our fun Friday Holiday pics. We started out by shopping for our first Christmas tree together. Since our families will be at our house this year, we felt like it was time to make the big purchase..... but..... we still don't have one yet. It's so hard because there are so many pretty ones (which are all expensive!). We decided to pray about it before we bought it, we didn't want to be impulsive... so, we'll have an update on that soon hopefully.

Then, we finally got to carve our pumpkins!!!!! It so was much more fun than I remember! We had stencils, so that helped, but here's how it turned out (sorry these are out of order):

I was pretty impressed! I love Fridays with no school where I get to spend all day with my hubby! Have a great weekend everyone!

A Great Weekend

We've returned from our whirl wind of a weekend- but a fun whirl wind at that. We left Thursday afternoon and drove the 10 hours to Lincoln and got in just about 15 minutes after my family did. We had one excited girl waiting to see us!

We felt bad that we were so busy while we were there, but my mom, my aunt and Izzie said they were along for the ride and it was great having their support. I had 3 interviews on Friday and they all went really well. It looks like I shouldn't have any problems finding an internship. Jon got to meet with the judge and have lunch with his soon to be co-workers. It was really good for him to touch base with them and he is even more excited now. We also had the opportunity to look at a few apartments and I think we even figured out what were going to do for that as well. In conclusion, it was a really productive weekend and we are really excited about coming Nebraskans for a year!

We also had some fun! We went shopping and took Izzie to Chucky Cheese. We swam a few times and we even got a few "grown up" conversations in with my mom and my aunt. Here are a few pictures. I feel terrible that I didn't even get a picture with my mom, but she was there and I miss her so much already!
Izzie really took a liking to Jon this visit- he's her Uncle Johnny!

Our beautiful Izzie

Did you guys know Jon was a hair stylist on the side?

On our way home, we got to stop and see Katie and Shane and check in on our precious little Emma! She's grown so much already but I'm so thankful Katie is good about posting pictures because it wasn't quite as much of a shock! It was so good to see them and to see how their little family has changed and grown.
Uncle Johnny, Aunt Heather, and Emma Eloise
Us spoiling her!
Me, Emma and Mom- you would never know she just had a baby!! Kate you look so good- you must share your secret when my time comes!!
The happy family

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and for checking in with us. We feel such a peace after this weekend. Thanks to mom, Holly, and Iz for coming to visit us. We miss you guys and love you! We hope everyone else had a great weekend as well.

Sorry no Pics, Just a Prayer Request

Sorry if this blog is a bit dull to some. I always try my best to post at least one picture with every blog, but I've got noth'n. We have not officially announced on the blog about our upcoming move (although most of you know), so today is the today, and it comes with a prayer request.

We will be moving to Lincoln, Nebraska this upcoming August 2009.

Praise God for his guidance and blessings (even when they're a bit confusing). The week after we moved into our home, we got news that Jon had been nominated as a candidate for a clerkship with the federal judge on the 8th circuit court. When he told me, I was excited, but really had no idea what that meant. Come to find out, it was a pretty big deal..... and it would require us to move to Nebraska!! (of all places!) The last time that we visited my family (who live in Nebraska), I felt a need to be closer to them. I prayed that God would either change my heart, or open Jon's to the idea, and right when I least expected it, he provided. It was not something that Jon could pass up, so after interviewing in Lincoln, and waiting a few days, it was official..... he had gotten the job!!

So, that takes us to where we are now. We've prayerfully decided to keep our house in Indiana at this point because the job is only a 1-2 year position. This takes me to our prayer requests: We are going out to visit this upcoming weekend and I will be interviewing for 2 internships. First, please pray for guidance and wisdom on those decisions and that they will accept me for the positions. Secondly, please pray that God will begin to lead us toward a home in Lincoln.

We have such mixed emotions about the move. We are sad to leave our home, our family, and the community we have built here, but they've promised to keep our spots for when we get back. We are also so excited to see how God will use us in Lincoln and we are very excited to be close to our Nebraska family, our Wyoming families, and to be a good stop for Katie and Shane and for Andy and Megan.

Thanks in advance for your prayers, and we'll keep you updated!!

Still a Cowboy at Heart

This is a terrible picture of Jon and I, but I just wanted to share it with those of you from UW (now or previously), we haven't sold out! Our shirts may be from 2005, but we wear them proudly! :) The newest couple in our small group (Kery and Kristi) decided to wear their Purdue shirts since our small group leaders are big IU fans. We decided to participate and then Leslie was wearing her IU shirt. It was a good laugh. Point being..... we miss you guys!

Stoney Creek Farms

We had such a beautiful weekend here as far as weather was concerned, so we decided to make a trip to the pumpkin patch. There's a local pumpkin/Christmas tree farm that I drive by everyday on my way to school, so we decided to check it out and it was really fun (besides the fact that we're now drugged up on allergy medicine!)

My handsome husband
Our friends Erik, Nikki, and Aiden who came with us (they are in our small group- seeing them grow in their relationship with Christ and seeing their desire to be witnesses to their son has been very encouraging to us!)

Our pumpkins- One for me, one for Jon and one for Miloh
Fall decor- we only have these two things.... but it's something I guess- you may notice the dying flowers- I'm kinda intentionally not watering them because I feel bad just throwing them away but I really don't want pink there anymore- I want something fally! :)
The end of our pumpkin trip

We had a very productive weekend of homework, homework, church and more homework. I can't wait for the day when a weekend is a weekend and not just catch up. Soon though... I have to remember to be joyful in the season we are in and we are so very blessed to have family, friends, fellowship, and an everlasting promise to look forward to. Until next time....
